궁금하다 wonder, curious, question 무엇을 써야 할까?

wonder, curious, question의 뉘앙스를 실제 예문에 적용시키면 아래와 같은 대화가 나올 수 있습니다.

 

 

언제쯤이면 좀 진정되고 다시 정상으로 돌아갈까?	I wonder when things will calm down and go back to normal
그러기나 할까?	I wonder if they will at all
무슨 말이야?	What do you mean?
뭐, 어떻게든 결국 진정은 되겠지만 다시 예전처럼 되지 않을 것 같아	Well, I guess things will eventually calm down one way or another but I doubt that things will ever be the same
난 어떤 변화가 생길지가 더 궁금한데.	I'm more curious to see how things will change

 

things - situation를 포괄적으로 하는 단어인데 formal, informal 모두 쓰일 수 있다.

 

I wonder when(간접의문문) - 궁금증을 독백처럼 하는 말(물론 상대방이 듣는것을 의식하지만)

 

I wonder if they will at all - 그렇게 되기는 할까? 라고 묻는 느낌, things를 they로 바꿈 그리고 내용을 생략한 것. at all 이 그러기는 할까 의 뉘앙스

 

one way or another - 어떻게든 (we have to do this one way or another)

 

I doubt that - I don't think that를 조심스럽게 돌려서 표현

Things will never be the same (예전처럼 안된다 or 상황은 완전 바뀐다).

위의 문장을 긍정(never 제외)하면서 의구심을 갖는 I doubt를 붙이는 느낌

 

I'm curious to see - 어떻게 될지 눈으로 확인해보고 싶은 느낌

curious와 붙는 콜로케이션은 about, to, that이 있다. 

about과 to는 비슷한 의미로 쓰인다.

to는 보통 hear, learn, know, find out과 쓴다.

1. I'm curious about what he was saying 

2. We're all curious to know what is inside

3. It's curious that I feel no pain (이상하다, 신기하다)

 

I was wondering - 궁금한게 있는데요. (wonder, curious 안됨)

위의 문장을 뱉은 뒤에, 완성형 문장을 뒤에 쓰면 된다.

ex) I was wondering, Do we have to do this?

동일하게 'I have a question'이 있다.

I have a question. 그리고 이어지게 질문을 하면 똑같은 의미이다.

상대에게 질문이 있냐고 물어볼때는

Are you wondering anything, Are you curious about something이 아니라,

Do you have any question? 이라고 묻는게 깔끔.
